Leeds Vs Tottenham: The Lilywhites Win 4-0

Tottenham Hotspur returned with a victory from his visit to headquarters Leeds United in continuation Premier League. Tottenham won 4-0.

Laga Leeds vs Tottenham held at Elland Road, Saturday (26/2/2022) evening WIB. Tottenham had a 3-0 lead over Leeds in the first half.

Matt Doherty put Tottenham ahead in the 10th minute before being added by Dejan Kulusevski and Harry Kane. Son Heung-Min then solidified Tottenham’s victory through his goal in the second half.

Thanks to this victory, Tottenham Hotspur rose to seventh place in the Premier League standings with 42 points from 25 matches. While Leeds is in 15th position with 23 points.

The course of the match

Leeds got off to a good start by creating chances with a free kick in the third minute. Stuart Dallas sent the ball into the penalty box and the ball headed home by Pascal Struijk, but still narrowly wide of the Tottenham goal.

Tottenham opened the scoring in the 10th minute. Through a counter-attack, Ryan Sessegnon brought the ball into the penalty box and sent a low pass. Matt Doherty who entered from the right side completed Sessegnon’s pass perfectly.

Tottenham doubled their lead in the 15th minute. This time it was Dejan Kulusevski’s turn who listed his name on the scoreboard. Kulusevski stabbed into the box from the right and fired home at the near post.

Leeds came close two minutes later. Robin Koch grabbed a wild ball in the penalty box. Unfortunately for Leeds, the ball still hit the post.

Goal! Harry Kane put Tottenham 3-0 up in the 27th minute. Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg lifted the ball past the Leeds defense and Kane finished with a volley.

Tottenham counter-attack almost led to a goal in the 31st minute. Sessegnon came into the box from the left and fired low. However, the ball was stopped by Illan Meslier.

Winning three goals did not make Tottenham off the gas pedal in the second half. While Leeds had difficulty creating opportunities.

Son Heung-Min dribbled from the middle of the field to approach the penalty box. He then fired low, but was blocked by Meslier.

Tottenham again threatened in the 62nd minute. Doherty received a through ball from Kane and his shot was parried by Meslier. Son threw up the ball, but was blocked by a Leeds player.

Kulusevski is really a threat to Leeds’ defense. He made a stab from the right before firing a shot that forced Meslier to make a rescue.

Leeds squandered a golden opportunity to score in the 76th minute. Through a quick counter-attack, the Leeds players lifted the ball far forward.

Hugo Lloris came out of the net to clear the ball, but the ball was snatched by Stuart Dallas. Dallas dribbled into the penalty box and approached the empty goal. However, his shot was blocked by Ben Davies.

Another chance for Leeds. The hosts’ counter-attack ended with Dan James’ shot. But the ball is still wide of the Tottenham goal.

Goal! Son brought Tottenham further away in the 87th minute. From the middle of the field, Kane released a forward cross that fell at Son’s feet. The South Korean striker then finished it as a goal.

Leeds efforts to score a goal in injury time also did not produce results. Raphinha’s free kick hits the post. While Rodrigo’s kick in front of goal can still be secured by Lloris.
