The fact that actor Lee Young-ae has paid political donations to active lawmakers is known and is of interest.
As three members of the National Defense Commission, who are from military generals, are included in the grand sponsorship, interest in her husband Jeong Ho-young, who ran a defense industry in the past, is also increasing.
According to the’List of Donors Exceeding 3 Million Won (2020),’ which was released by the Central Election Commission on the 25th in accordance with the Political Fund Act, Lee said last year’s People’s Power of the People Jeong Jin-seok, Han Ki-ho, Shin Won-sik, and Democratic Party Member Kim Byeong-ju. Donated 20 million won. According to the Political Fund Act, political sponsorships of up to 5 million won can be paid.
Rep. Jeong Jin-seok is Lee Young-ae’s uncle. The other three were from military generals and currently belong to the National Assembly’s Defense Committee.
Some observers say that this political donation is related to Lee’s husband, Jeong Ho-young.
There is also a view that providing large donations to members of the National Defense Council is misleading, given that Jeong has been active in the defense industry for a long time, such as running a defense industry.
Accordingly, Rep. Han Ki-ho and Rep. Shin Won-sik emphasized that “Mr. Jeong closed the business around 15 years ago,” and emphasized that it had no relation to the business of the National Defense Commission and Chung. Rep. Kim Byeong-joo said, “I had no idea what kind of business Mr. Jeong was doing.”
The lawmakers explained that Lee’s father was a 6-25 veteran and had a high interest in the military since the past, and that interest only led to support.
Rep. Han Ki-ho said, “Lee Young-ae has been interested in the military by participating in events for soldiers since the past. We met at military-related events. It is an honor to be sponsored by Lee.”
Rep. Shin Won-sik also said, “Lee Young-ae’s father is a veteran. I know my father-in-law was also from a reserve general. I have been interested in the military since long ago, and I received (sponsorship money) because I supported the military.”
Rep. Kim Byeong-ju said, “(Lee) has made donations to the yuksa as well, and I know that he has made a lot of donations,” he said. “I understood that I was asking for good politics and received a donation.”
