Lee Towers stops performing at the start of the Rotterdam marathon

Lee Towers will sing his best-known hit You Never Walk Alone for the last time at the starting line of the marathon in Rotterdam on April 14. The organization of the NN Marathon Rotterdam reported this on Tuesday.

According to the organization, Towers “sang to the marathon runners approximately thirty times” after his last performance. Towers says in a press statement that it is “fantastic every edition” to be able to sing to the participants, but that “all good things must come to an end”. “I am very proud that I have been able to participate in so many editions and that I can end it in this positive way,” says the artist.

Wibert Lek, director of NN Marathon Rotterdam, emphasizes that You Never Walk Alone will be “forever linked” to the marathon. “We would like to thank Lee for his years of dedication and look forward to enjoying his performance at the start one more time.”

On Sunday, April 14, just before 10 a.m., Towers will sing to the marathon runners for the last time. He does this at the foot of the Erasmus Bridge in Rotterdam.
