Fans showered him with messages of support and gifts. “I have had dozens of flower arrangements, pockets full of cards and sweet messages. I get so much attention from so many lovely people,” said Towers, touched. “Companies are also making themselves heard. I received a beautiful sweater from AFAS with the text: It’s gonna take more than hip surgery to keep me down. Very witty.”
Towers broke his hip in an accidental fall in late January. He has now got a new one. The singer hopes to be back on stage soon.
