The 35th vice-president prosecutors of the Seoul Central District Prosecutors’ Office, which is the largest in the country, held a meeting on the 16th and then posted on the prosecution’s internal communication network, “The reason for disciplinary action against President Yoon is unfair, and there are serious flaws in the entire procedure from the formation of the disciplinary committee to the resolution.” Made a statement.
He pointed out that “the sufficient procedural rights and defense rights promised by the Ministry of Justice were not guaranteed, and in the end the’procedural fairness’ emphasized by the President was punished (only in form, without value or meaning).”
He emphasized, “This discipline seriously undermines the political neutrality, independence, and rule of law of the prosecution, which is intended to be achieved through the prosecutor general’s tenure system, so it must be corrected.”
They also expressed the opinion that on the 24th of last month, the disciplinary request and suspension of office execution by Attorney General Choo Mi-ae were made without sufficient factual confirmation, contrary to procedural justice and against the spirit of prosecution reform.
