“When preparing for a performance or making an album, I feel happy because I pick up the guitar and sing hard. Having something to focus on gives me strength to sustain myself.”
Singer Lee Moon-se said at the press conference for her 17th full-length album held in Mapo-gu, Seoul on the 13th, “I plan to continue (making music) for the next 20 years,” and added, “I think that if there is even one person in the audience applauding, they should grab the microphone. That’s why. “It is a promise to myself that I will not perform a retirement concert,” he said.
He said that the secret to being able to do music for a long time is “the simple mindset of just making music without any other side jobs or businesses. It’s thanks to my uncomplicated life. I am an artist who is relatively good at maintaining relaxation and concentration.”
On this day, Lee Moon-se will pre-release the songs ‘Love Even in Parting’ and ‘My Blues’ from his 17th album, which will be released next year.
‘Love Even in Parting’ is a ballad that goes beyond breaking up with a lover and reminds us of various breakups with precious people in life.
‘My Blues’ is a song that honestly expresses the emotions and situations I felt during my long life as a singer, and was written and composed by Lee Moon-se. ‘Life goes on / The road everyone takes / A petal falls… The lyrics, ‘Because I’ve received applause at least once / I’m okay even if my life ends’, reveal Lee Moon-se’s sincere desire to strike a balance between idyllic daily life and life on stage.
He introduced ‘Love Even in Parting’ as “a song that makes me want to throw my heart into the autumn sky with a comfortable waltz rhythm in 3/4 time.”
He also quoted the lyrics of ‘My Blues’ and looked back on his singing career, saying, “I received a lot of applause from the public, so there was nothing to lose in my life. I have no time left.”
Lee Moon-se, who debuted in the entertainment industry as an MC for CBS’ ‘Seventeen’ in 1978, began his career as a singer in earnest with the release of his first album ‘I am a happy person’ in 1983.
Since then, he has released numerous hit songs such as ‘Girl’, ‘I Don’t Know Yet’, ‘When Love Passes’, ‘Standing Under the Shade of the Street Trees’, ‘Old Love’, ‘Gwanghwamun Love Song’, and ‘Red Sunset’ and is still on stage. He is actively working on radio broadcasts.
Lee Moon-se said, “It’s been over 40 years since I picked up the microphone and sang in front of the public. There were difficult times along the way, and there were rivers, mountains, and hills to overcome. I have never missed the applause (from the public) for more than 40 years and have not been turned away, so I have been holding the microphone for over 40 years.” “I was able to catch it,” he recalled.
He continued to sell out this year’s seasonal concert ‘Theater Lee Moon-se’, showing off his continued ticket power. This performance was well received for its hit song medley and spectacular performance.
Lee Moon-se plans to release the songs sequentially before the release of his 17th album. Additionally, in response to fans’ requests, it was decided to extend the currently ongoing ‘Theater Lee Moon-se’ tour until next year.
He said, “I have a desire to dance. If I were good at dancing, my dream and romance would be to dance like Rain (Jung Ji-hoon) when I’m in my mid-sixties, using the title song of my 17th album as a dance song.” He added, “Dance is a genre I want to challenge myself.” “I may not be able to dance as well as Rain, but I wonder if Rain can be as healthy as me in his 60s,” he joked.
He made a name for himself not only as a singer but also as a radio DJ with ‘Starry Night’ and ‘This Morning, I’m Lee Moon-se’. He returned to radio after 13 years with ‘Hello, I’m Lee Moon-se’ in June of this year.
Lee Moon-se said, “The three letters Lee Moon-se and radio are inseparable and have an inseparable functional relationship. I grew up through radio and blossomed through radio. Through interaction with countless listeners, Lee Moon-se is still receiving applause.” expressed his affection for
When the story about ‘King of Singer‘ Cho Yong-pil, who released his 20th full-length album last month, came up, he praised Yongpil, saying, “I hope Yongpil doesn’t have a retirement concert. His appearance on stage is the most beautiful and I respect him.”
“Because they (senior singers) are taking the lead, I can take a backseat and follow with ease. This gives a kind of courage to juniors like me who follow quietly.”
