Lee Kyung-hoon, PGA Phoenix Open for two consecutive days, 5 under par… Lead

Stricker Challenges PGA Tour to Win

Lee Gyeong-hoon, 30, took the lead in the PGA Tour Waste Management Phoenix Open (total prize money of $7.3 million) for two days in a row, cruising under par for two days.

In the second round of the tournament held at TPC Scottsdale (par 71, 7,261 yards) in Scottsdale, Arizona on the 6th (Korean time), Lee Gyeong-hoon hit a 5-under par 66 with 7 birdies and 2 bogies.

Lee Gyeong-hoon, who recorded 132 strokes at 10 under par in the middle, ended the game with a tie for third place after co-leaders Steve Stricker (US) and Keegan Bradley (11 under par 131 strokes above the US) by one stroke.

In the first round of the previous day, Lee Gyeong-hoon boasted a 100% green hit rate and hit a 5 under par. On this day, the green hit rate dropped to 83.33%, but the putt was strong.

Lee Gyeong-hoon put a 6m in hole 4 (par 3), 5.5m in hole 9 (par 4), and a 9m birdie putt in hole 18 (par 4).

He drowned his tee shot in the 11th hole (par 4) and wrote down his views, but after that, he caught a birdie in 4 of the 5 holes.

Lee Kyung-hoon has raised personal expectations for the best performance since the 2019 Zurich Classic (joint 3rd).

Stricker, who celebrates her 54th birthday on February 23 local time, will challenge the record for the oldest PGA Tour championship.

The best record in this category is held by Sam Sneed (USA). Sneed conquered the Greater Greensboro Open in 1965 at the age of 52 years and 10 months, setting the record for the oldest wins on the PGA Tour with 82 wins.

If the Stricker wins this time, he will achieve his personal 12th win in 9 years since the 2012 Hyundai Tournament of Champions.
