On the 31st, Democratic Party leader Lee Jae-myung dismissed the allegation that the Ssangbangbang Group sent 3 million dollars to North Korea as funds for his visit to North Korea while he was governor of Gyeonggi-do, dismissing it as “a new novel by the prosecution.”
Representative Lee met with reporters at the National Assembly that day and said, “It seems that the prosecution’s new novel has come out, but it will not sell well considering the previous creative ability.” Representative Lee did not answer the question of whether the date of reappearance at the prosecution has been adjusted in relation to the suspicion of preferential treatment for the development of Wirye New Town and Daejang-dong.
Previously, it was reported that former Ssangbangwool Group chairman Kim Seong-tae stated in a prosecutor’s investigation that ‘a total of $8 million was delivered to North Korea, which was for Gyeonggi-do’s North Korean smart farm support project and for Lee’s visit to North Korea, then governor of Gyeonggi-do.’
The Democratic Party’s Prosecution Dictatorship and Political Suppression Countermeasures Committee said in a statement that day, “The prosecution’s claim is, in a word, an absurd novel that has not even confirmed the basic facts.” The Countermeasures Committee said, “It is true that Gyeonggi-do promoted the smart farm support project as one of several North Korean projects, but since inter-Korean relations rapidly deteriorated, actual product support was not carried out.” “It doesn’t make sense from the point of view that we paid in cash.”
The countermeasures committee dismissed, “The fact that former Chairman Kim paid for Governor Lee Jae-myeong’s visit to North Korea is absurd considering the situation at the time.” The countermeasure committee said, “Since the breakdown of the North Korea-US summit in Hanoi in February 2019, inter-Korean relations have been strained in the second half of 2019.” Does it make sense?” he asked.
The countermeasures committee said, “We can no longer stand by and stand by the prosecution’s investigation of fabrication, which is preoccupied with public opinion trials even while leaking official secrets.”
Representative Lee held a press conference at the National Assembly the day before and responded to the prosecution’s request for an additional subpoena investigation, saying, “It’s insulting and unfair, but I’ll go again because I was asked to come as a loser in the (presidential election).”
