He expressed his earnest feelings, saying, “I had a dream of becoming the world’s top tennis player, which I had been running towards for 10 years, crying and laughing since I was seven years old. That dream was everything in my life.”
He continued, “However, I recently had my third knee surgery, and I came to a point where I had to give up my dream. Since I was young, I have worked hard with blood, sweat, and tears to achieve my desired goals, and I have gained new experiences in my tennis life.” “I’ve been building up a lot, but now I can no longer achieve that dream,” he confessed.
Even Lee Dong-guk and his wife, who were worried about their daughter’s injury, opposed Jae-ah Lee’s exercise, but he said he tried to continue his challenge.
Jae-ah Lee said, “After the second surgery last winter, the hospital director told me that it might be difficult to repeat intense training like tennis, and after that, my parents also opposed tennis. Still, it wasn’t easy for me to give up tennis, which was everything to me. “I tried to take on the challenge again,” he said.
He continued, “However, despite my efforts, I had to undergo my third knee surgery last week, and now I feel like I will never be able to achieve that dream. I was frustrated for a moment and couldn’t stop crying at the thought of not being able to achieve my dream, but I still thought positively and realized that this was not a failure. Rather, I try to think of it as another opportunity that opens a new path in my life,” he said.
Lastly, Jae-ah Lee expressed hope, saying, “I will definitely show you how I grow and work harder in whatever way I can in the future.”
