Some time ago, Novel Baswedan along with 56 KPK employees who did not pass the national insight test (TWK) were fired, Mother. Of course, this made the comrades who were still there cry when they let them go.
The announcement of the respectful dismissal of KPK employees who did not pass the TWK was delivered by KPK Deputy Chair Alexander Marwata on Wednesday (15/9). He said KPK employees who did not pass the TWK would be honorably dismissed as of September 30, 2021.
Speaking of the figure of Novel Baswedan, there was an interesting experience when he wanted to become a KPK employee, Mother. When he was about to take this new step in his life, it turned out that Novel first asked for the blessing of his mother, Fatmah.
As is known, after graduating from high school, Novel studied at the Police Academy (Akpol). After graduating, he became a police officer and was assigned to several areas. In 2007, Novel was trusted and assigned to be one of the KPK investigators from the Polri element.
Unexpectedly, it turns out that being a KPK investigator is indeed an interesting job for Novel. At first, he was only seconded by the National Police, but over time Novel became more comfortable and relaxed and then he intended to become an employee of the KPK. This meant that Novel had to leave the Police.
Novel then expresses his wish to Fatmah in order to hope for her mother’s blessing. Immediately Novel launched a ‘massage lobby’. What is it, Mother? It turned out that Novel approached his mother with rubbing oil.
“I want to massage my mother’s feet first, then say something about my job,” said Novel as quoted from the book Let the Angel Guard Me, written by Zaenuddin MH.
Indeed, Mother, massaging her mother’s feet has become Novel’s habit. Every time he visits his parents’ house, Novel first meets his mother and doesn’t forget to massage his feet.
“That’s the advantage of Bang Novel that he is so close to his mother. Sometimes I get jealous,” said Novel’s younger brother, Hafidz Baswedan.
As if he could guess what was in his son’s heart, Fatmah immediately asked Novel if he was interested in becoming a permanent employee of the KPK. Fatmah’s answer also made Novel’s decision even more solid.
“That’s right, Ma. I really intend to work at the KPK. Moreover, if you approve, I will leave the Police and become a KPK investigator. Thank you, it turns out that you have agreed,” said Novel while massaging his mother’s legs.
One day in 2014, Novel’s name was included in 28 investigators from the National Police who were appointed as permanent employees of the KPK. Novel served as a KPK investigator with great loyalty. Let alone colleagues, parents alone are not able to influence Novel.
Once, during a relaxing afternoon, Fatmah teased Novel about his work at the KPK.
“Vel, he said you were offered to be the director of a BUMN. Just take it. It’s delicious, Vel, the salary is big. You will live richly. So sometimes I make fun of him,” said Fatmah.
“Ah, Mama. I’m an investigator NCP just. It’s a pity for the people, they have to be defended.” That was Novel’s answer. In fact, Fatmah had even advised her son to handle only minor corruption cases. If big cases were uncovered, Novel could have enemies.
But at that time, Novel firmly answered, “Poor, Ma. The people are victims of the corruptors. So, we must defend the people.”
