A five-person group of former engine and chassis designers as well as test engineers from the Zschopau (MZ) motorcycle factory in the GDR are planning a five-part lecture series entitled “From Wankel to Four-Stroke Engine”. The series looks back on motorcycle development from 1960 to 1992. The focus is on projects that did not find their way into series production.

The start of the series of events will take place on September 1st, 5 p.m., in the castle restaurant at Augustusburg Castle. The title of the lecture is “Development of Wankel Engines in VEB Motorradwerk Zschopau”. The speaker is Dr. Günter Karl, research manager at MZ until 1992 and later head of the pre-development department for gasoline engines at Daimler AG in Stuttgart. (bp)
