Called harassing lecturers, Rector Unipar Jember, RS, resigned from his position. The lecturer’s husband assessed that the harassment was done intentionally, not spontaneously.
“If I hear the story from my wife, I can conclude that it was intentional. Why? Because the symptoms had appeared from the start,” said the lecturer’s husband, Sunday (20/6/2021).
The harassment occurred when the lecturer and Chancellor of Unipar Jember attended the East Java PGRI Training and Education program at a hotel in Tretes, Pasuruan, last June 4. However, according to the victim’s husband, the symptoms of abuse occurred since the group departed from Jember.
“There were 4 people in the group in one car. There was a driver, my wife, the perpetrator, and one of the deans. Indications of harassment have emerged since leaving Jember,” explained the lecturer’s husband.
First, he said, when the car had to go to a repair shop to fix the headlights. While sitting in the waiting room of the workshop, his wife’s position was to the left of the hospital sitting position.
“When the repair was completed, this perpetrator used his left hand to pat my wife’s left shoulder from behind, inviting her back into the car. So the impression was embracing. Why can’t my wife’s right shoulder be slapped if the goal is just to invite. My wife was shocked. But then he just kept quiet. Thinking it was not intentional,” he said.
Next, continued this man, when the group stopped at Leces, Probolinggo for Friday prayers. At that time, while still in the car, Rector Unipar The person pointed at something and his hand pressed against the victim’s cheek.
“My wife is sitting in the front, next to the driver. The perpetrator sat in the seat directly behind my wife. When he stopped at Leces, the perpetrator asked for something on the dashboard. When he pointed his hand to my wife’s cheek. Again my wife I was surprised. But so far I don’t have any thoughts,” he said.
Then the symptoms of abuse occurred when the car was driving on the highway. At that time the victim felt someone touch his body from behind.
“Either with my feet or hands. My wife doesn’t dare to look back. My wife just tries to avoid it by shifting her sitting position. But still, she often feels like someone is touching her body. Throughout the trip my wife has felt uncomfortable,” he explained
