Lecturer Sexual Harassment Case: Victim Difficult to Report Fear of Identity Spread Page all

MATARAM, KOMPAS.com – Victim of alleged sexual abuse committed by a person from the University’s Faculty of Law Mataram (Unram) still did not dare to report the case to the realm of law for fear of its identity being exposed.

“To this day, this victim still does not want to report, because if he dares to report criminal proceedings, his identity will be revealed, that is what is feared by the victims,” ​​said Lecturer of the Faculty of Law, University of Mataram (Unram) Joko Jumadi, as the victim’s legal assistant, when found Kompas.com, Wednesday (7/22/2020)

Joko who is also a legal advisor from the Legal Consultation and Legal Aid Bureau (BKBH) of Unram, said that until now his party has tried to approach the victim so that the case can be reported to the criminal realm.

If needed, he will present a psychologist.

“We have also worked with a psychologist if that is needed, but again it is still difficult to report criminally, which is clearly 1 victim in the process of how he reported,” said Joko.

“Like it or not, our criminal process is still not friendly towards identity the victim, will definitely be exposed, this will be severe, “added Joko.

Until now, victims only hope that there will be a change in mentoring for supervisors and sanctions from institutions (campus).

Joko revealed that there were 3 victims who had reported to campus, one report formally, and two reports informally via WhatsApp message.

He stated, the Faculty of Law of Unram was very open to victims who wanted to complain if they had ever had a similar case.

Previously, an individual lecturer at the Faculty of Law, Unram, West Nusa Tenggra, was alleged to have harassed a student.

Harassment occurred on June 24, 2020 when the victim conducted guidance for a thesis proposal in one of the rooms at the Faculty of Law.

For their actions, the FK Unram code of ethics council punished the lecturer with a suspension of five years or 10 semesters not allowed to teach.
