According to Italian newspaper reports, a joint dinner took place in Monaco on Tuesday evening between the Ferrari team boss and the driver with potential for the World Cup, in order to smooth the tensions after the F1 British Grand Prix.
Charles Leclerc was on his way to victory in Silverstone, but Ferrari did not react to the safety car sent in early with a good strategy – although Mattia Binotto insists that they made the right decision by preferring to maintain track position with the leading car –, so the Monaco driver only finished in fourth place.
Although in the statements both parties tried to deny this or take away the edge, it was clearly visible that after the race there was some tension between Leclerc and Binotto: the team leader explained to his pilot with his raised index finger, who later reacted by saying that his boss just wanted to cheer him up after the disappointing result.

Gazzetta dello Sport learned that in order to clarify the tension, Leclerc and Binotto met two days after the British Grand Prix in Monaco at a dinner. In the video posted on his social media page, you can really see how they left the Hotel de Paris in a much lighter mood. The Italian paper writes that although they could have waited until the Austrian GP with dinner, the parties probably wanted to arrive in Spielberg in order to smooth over any differences.
By the way, tension is said to exist not only between Leclerc and Binotto after the botched Silverstone race: as we reportedit is said that some Ferrari team members did not even want to celebrate Carlos Sainz’s first victory at first.
