- Lech was leading with Standard 1-0, but lost 1: 2, conceding a goal in added time
- Kolejorz, to think about promotion, has to win the next two matches – with Benfica Lisbon and Glasgow Rangers
- However, even two wins will not guarantee promotion. Much will depend on the attitude of the other teams in the group

Lech Poznań before the rematch against Standard Liege was third in the group with the achievement of three points. The Belgians were in last place and they had no “spots”. In this match, Kolejorz wanted to join the fight for promotion to the knockout stage.
Players from Belgium dominated in the first half, but the red card at the end of the first half poured hope into the hearts of Lech players and fans. This was confirmed after a goal by Mikael Ishak. Ultimately, however, the match ended with Lech’s defeat 1: 2, and both teams finished the match in the top ten. Kolejorz lost the decisive goal in the fourth minute of added time.
The defeat means that Lech has three points and it has made the promotion very complicated. The situation is almost hopeless. The more so because in the parallel game played by this group, Glasgow Rangers drew 2: 2 with Benfica Lisbon. Lech’s rivals have five “points” more than Kolejorz for two matches before the end.
Lech can still qualify for the next phase, but not everything depends on him. The basic condition is Kolejorz’s two victories in the next matches – with Benfica Lisbon and Glasgow Rangers. Below are all possible scenarios where Lech will advance to the knockout stage:
- Option 1: Lech to win against Benfica AND Standard to win against Rangers AND Lech to win against Rangers
- Option 2: Lech to win with Benfica AND Standard to draw with Rangers AND Lech to win with Rangers AND Standard to win with Benfica
- Option 3: Lech will win with Benfica AND Standard will draw with Rangers AND Lech will win with Rangers AND Standard will lose with Benfica AND Lech will have a better record of direct matches with Rangers
- Option 4: Lech will win with Benfica AND Standard will lose with Rangers AND Lech will win with Rangers AND Standard will draw with Benfica AND Lech will have a better record of direct matches with Benfica
- Option 5: Lech will win with Benfica AND Standard will lose with Rangers AND Lech will win with Rangers AND Standard will win with Benfica
There is one more option, but it involves the fact that when it is met, a small table with three teams will be created and it will depend on who will advance further.
- Variant 6: Lech will win with Benfica AND Standard will draw with Rangers AND Lech will win with Rangers AND Standard will draw with Benfica → then a small table with three teams
