LeBron James is aware that more than ever, all eyes will be on him and his son, Bronny, as they share a locker room with the Los Angeles Lakers; an unprecedented event in NBA history.
The all-time leading scorer in the prestigious American league is already preparing to face one of his last seasons as a professional, with the special motivation of working on the same team as his eldest heir, who was taken by the Hollywood franchise in the second round (55th overall) of the last draft.
“This is definitely different in the sense that Bronny is now part of the team. I think it’s one of the best things in the world to be able to work with your son,” King James revealed on the “GoJo & Golic Show.” “This week we got back in the gym and it was really the first time that we were both basically on the court as professionals training, playing each other and getting ready for the season. I had a couple of moments where I lost focus and I’m not used to losing focus when I’m out there, but there were a few moments where I looked over and watched him and watched him get ready and go for it. It’s going to be an amazing year for me and hopefully for him as well.” he continued.
Likewise, the winner of four championship rings, including the last one in the history of the Lakers, in 2020, is ready to enjoy a season that will be unique for his environment, and in which he hopes that his father will evolve step by step in various sporting and personal aspects.
“It’s going to give me a sense of enjoying the moment a little bit more. When you’re in ‘training’ mode and ‘determination’ mode, you’re so wrapped up in the preparation and the process that you can sometimes lose track of things that can happen throughout the season that you should appreciate a little bit more, so I think with Bronny here I can have a moment or two where I just sit back and appreciate the situation, because it doesn’t last forever. Like you guys mentioned, I’ve been in this career for over two decades and there’s no way I can do another two decades, so I have to appreciate some of this.” the veteran forward reflected.
