LeBron James Makes History as First Player to Reach 40,000 Points in NBA

LeBron James continues to expand his legend and last morning he became the first player in history to reach the barrier of 40,000 points in the NBA.

The King came into the game against the Nuggets needing only 19 points to reach that goal, and he achieved it at 10:39 minutes into the second period with a layup.

“I feel like I can still be a threat on the court and that I can still do the things from 10 years ago,” James told ESPN. “And some things from 20 years ago, which is strange to say,” he added.

James finished with 26 points and 9 assists in the Angelenos’ 124-114 loss to Michael Malone’s Nuggets. He currently has 40,017 career NBA points, and he still has time left.

For the next campaign he has a ‘player option valued’ at $51 million, and his plans include rejecting it and negotiating a possible new 1+1 commitment. His next goal is clear: to play with his son Bronny Jamescurrently at USC of the NCAA.

“No one had ever done it. And for me to be in that position in my career is great. Is it at the top of what I have achieved in my career? No. But does it mean anything? Of course. Absolutely. Why wouldn’t it be?

And he added “Being able to achieve things in this league with the best players who have ever played. The NBA has been a dream for me, and reaching goals and having career milestones, all of them, absolutely all of them mean something to me.”

His feat achieved last Saturday in his team’s defeat at the hands of the Denver Nuggets, with a score of 124-114, only adds to his collection of marks achieved as players in the best basketball in the world.
