James, who won four NBA championships in his career, scored more points than anyone else and is on the same level as Michael Jordan as the greatest basketball players in history, is entering his seventh season with the Lakers. His 19-year-old son, who celebrates his 20th birthday on Sunday, is starting his first season as a professional. “I’ve been in the league longer than he’s been old,” LeBron James said at the Lakers’ media day.

Baseball: Mourning the death of “Hit King” Pete Rose
Pete Rose had more hits in Major League Baseball than anyone else. After his active career, the player with the most MLB appearances to date as a manager was banned for life due to a betting scandal. Now Peter Edward Rose Sr., three-time World Series winner, has died at the age of 83.
“Major League Baseball extends its deepest condolences to the family, his friends and the fans from his hometown of Cincinnati, Philadelphia and beyond who admired his greatness, courage and determination on the field. May he rest in peace,” the MLB said in a statement.
Rose played 3,562 games in the league, had 4,256 hits and batted 15,890 times – all records. Born in Cincinnati, the infielder and outfielder became the Reds’ number one player in many statistics, including appearances (2,722) and hits (3,358). Rose started in Cincinnati and played in the MLB for a total of 24 years (1963 to 1986). After stints with the Philadelphia Phillies and the Montreal Expos, he returned to the Reds in 1984.
Rose won the World Series twice with Cincinnati and once with Philadelphia. In 1985, with his 4,192nd career hit, he replaced the previous record holder Ty Cobb, who had played from 1905 to 1928.
In 1989 it came to light that Rose, as Reds manager, had bet on his team’s games. A short time later the blockage took place. As a result, the MLB legend’s path to the Hall of Fame was blocked.
