LeBron James is looking forward to the Lakers season with his son

The upcoming NBA season is number 22 in his career for LeBron James – and is already very special even before the first game. He has “a lot of anticipation” about the prospect of standing on the court with his son Bronny James Jr. in a Los Angeles Lakers jersey. There has never been a father-son duo in the NBA before.

“It is pure joy to come to work every day and work with your son. I push him, he pushes me, we push our colleagues and they push us,” said 39-year-old LeBron James. “It gives you a lot of life. When you are surrounded by young people (…), it gives you a lot of energy, a lot of life. It’s great.”

James, who won four NBA championships in his career, scored more points than anyone else and is on the same level as Michael Jordan as the greatest basketball players in history, is entering his seventh season with the Lakers. His 19-year-old son, who celebrates his 20th birthday on Sunday, is starting his first season as a professional. “I’ve been in the league longer than he’s been old,” LeBron James said at the Lakers’ media day.

Together with his son, he posed for photos and gave interviews – it also became clear that there is still no rule as to how the son will address his father on the pitch. “Bron would be the easiest, I think,” Bronny James told a US television station. He later added: “Whatever comes out of my mouth when I address him, he will respond to it.”

Bronny James, whose full name is LeBron James Jr., emphasized that he is looking forward to the upcoming training sessions. “It’s such a crazy feeling, being in training with your dad and competing at this level. On the other hand, having to compete against LeBron James in training every day is also a lot. But yeah, I’m looking forward to that too.”

Theoretically, the Jameses could play together for the Lakers for the first time on Friday. The first test of the preparation is against the Minnesota Timberwolves. Both teams will meet again at the start of the season on October 22nd.

Baseball: Mourning the death of “Hit King” Pete Rose

Pete Rose had more hits in Major League Baseball than anyone else. After his active career, the player with the most MLB appearances to date as a manager was banned for life due to a betting scandal. Now Peter Edward Rose Sr., three-time World Series winner, has died at the age of 83.

“Major League Baseball extends its deepest condolences to the family, his friends and the fans from his hometown of Cincinnati, Philadelphia and beyond who admired his greatness, courage and determination on the field. May he rest in peace,” the MLB said in a statement.

Rose played 3,562 games in the league, had 4,256 hits and batted 15,890 times – all records. Born in Cincinnati, the infielder and outfielder became the Reds’ number one player in many statistics, including appearances (2,722) and hits (3,358). Rose started in Cincinnati and played in the MLB for a total of 24 years (1963 to 1986). After stints with the Philadelphia Phillies and the Montreal Expos, he returned to the Reds in 1984.

Rose won the World Series twice with Cincinnati and once with Philadelphia. In 1985, with his 4,192nd career hit, he replaced the previous record holder Ty Cobb, who had played from 1905 to 1928.

In 1989 it came to light that Rose, as Reds manager, had bet on his team’s games. A short time later the blockage took place. As a result, the MLB legend’s path to the Hall of Fame was blocked.

Vikings keep their clean slate

The Minnesota Vikings ruined Jordan Love’s comeback with the Green Bay Packers and kept their clean slate in the National Football League (NFL). The team around quarterback Sam Darnold, which started the season strongly, celebrated its fourth win in the fourth game with a score of 31:29 at Lambeau Field. The Vikings are the only undefeated team in the National Football Conference (NFC) alongside the Seattle Seahawks (3-0).

Love suffered a ligament injury in his left knee in the Packers’ opening game against the Philadelphia Eagles (29:34) at the NFL’s Brazil premiere in Sao Paulo. Now the quarterback returned to action and suffered a home defeat with the Packers – the comeback came too late. Green Bay won the final quarter 22-3.

The 25-year-old Love completed 32 of 54 passes for 389 yards, threw four touchdown passes, but had three interceptions. Darnold (275 yards) threw three touchdown passes with one interception.

The Eagles presented themselves weak again. The 16:33 after a 7:24 halftime deficit at the Tampa Bay Buccaneers was the second defeat in the fourth game for Jalen Hurts’ team. Philadelphia lost at home to the Atlanta Falcons (21:22) in week two and was disappointing across the board. The Cincinnati Bengals won their first win of the season with a 34:24 win over the Carolina Panthers. The Jacksonville Jaguars with quarterback Trevor Lawrence are still winless after a 20:24 defeat at the Houston Texans.

Mahomes leads Chiefs to their fourth win

The Kansas City Chiefs have continued their winning streak in the NFL. The Super Bowl champion around star quarterback Patrick Mahomes also won his fourth game of the season with a 17:10 win against the Los Angeles Chargers. The Chiefs were temporarily behind 0:10.

“We didn’t play that well, but our defense was good and kept us in the game,” said Mahomes, who totaled 245 yards passing. He is “proud of the boys. “This could have gone in a different direction, but they supported each other,” said coach Andy Reid, praising his team.

Tight end Travis Kelce in particular experienced an upswing after a weak start to the season. The 34-year-old caught seven passes for 89 yards. Pop titan Taylor Swift’s boyfriend, who wasn’t in the stadium, even set a new Chiefs record: He surpassed the previous record set by Tony Gonzalez, who caught a total of 916 passes for Kansas City.

However, Chiefs receiver Rashee Rice suffered a serious knee injury. Mahomes had thrown an interception. While trying to stop the Chargers, the quarterback injured his own teammate. Things “don’t look good at all,” Reid said.

The Chiefs are aiming for the “three-peat” this season: Kansas can become the first team to win the title in the US professional league three times in a row.
