NBA – In a few months, Lebron James will be 38 years old. If it is still efficient today, will it still be so in the future and especially for how long? This is a question that must tease the Lakers and precisely, the latter spoke about it with him. Age necessarily affects everyone but when you have a player and a marketing product like Lebron James, it makes you think twice.
Bryce and Bronny are trending at the moment and there is reason for it. The two sons of Lebron James are, to say the least, talented and time flies because if they trailed in the paws of dad before the games, they now train with him in the facilities of the Lakers. The eldest is about to play his last year of high school. No more fun, his career really begins now, if he wants to go pro. He will soon choose his faculty and if he continues on this path, barring accident, Bronny James will be an NBA player in 2 years. What about his little brother Bryce? The road will be longer since he only attacks high school. It’s really hard to imagine Lebron James playing with the eldest and not the second. Impossible to objectively discuss such a subject for the moment but there is no doubt that the quadruple NBA champion leaves it in the back of his mind. How long will Lebron James play? That’s the big question and for now, he remains a Lakers player and starting today, the late Kobe Bryant’s franchise number is going to have a choice to make.
ESPN’s Dave McMenamin was part of the crew from NBA Today, Malika Andrews’ famous daily show. He announces that Lebron James and his agent Rich Paul of Klutch Sports, sat down with the Lakers and GM Rob Pelinka to talk about this infamous extension. So far, nothing concrete and no signing is imminent but the meeting would have been productive for both sides. If we follow this point of view, Lebron James should sign this extension in the coming months. However, it is rather the duration that raises several questions. We are talking about a player who is leaving on his 38th birthday, we remind him… The former Miami Heat star is attacking his final year of contract at just over $44 million. He’s not one to shy away from a challenge. Lebron wants to put the Lakers back on track but if the season goes off the rails again, the number 23 does not have to rush to sign an extension, in order to bury himself in a team that will not be competitive… For the little anecdote , a player aged 38 or older, can only sign for a maximum of two years.
His son Bronny is undoubtedly at the heart of his decision. There is no rush at the moment and Lebron James is probably more busy spending time training his sons than thinking about a future contract. Summer is still long.
