LeBron James Expected to Stay with Los Angeles Lakers, Agent Says
In a surprising turn of events, it appears that LeBron James will be staying with the Los Angeles Lakers. Speculation had been circulating that the NBA’s all-time points leader might be traded ahead of the February 8 deadline, but his longtime agent, Rich Paul, has shut down those rumors.
“LeBron won’t be traded, and we aren’t asking to be,” Paul told ESPN, putting an end to the speculation.
The Lakers, currently sitting at a 25-25 record and in ninth place in the Western Conference, have been facing a challenging season. However, management is hopeful that they can replicate last year’s success at the trade deadline. In 2021, the Lakers made a series of moves that improved the team and propelled them to the Western Conference Finals, despite being a No. 7 seed.
