Lebenshilfe Frankfurt am Main eV was founded in 1961 as a non-profit association by parents and relatives of people with disabilities. Today we are a self-help association and professional association for parents and relatives, for experts, friends and sponsors. And we are the provider of facilities and a whole range of outpatient and inpatient offers for people with intellectual disabilities.
We are committed to ensuring that people with intellectual disabilities can develop their personalities and abilities and live together with other people. That is why it is our greatest concern to support people with disabilities in their personal and social environment.

“It is normal to be different”
Diversity and diversity are what enrich life. Reservations about the unfamiliar and unknown need to be broken down. Like everyone else, children, young people and adults with intellectual disabilities are unique and unmistakable. They are personalities with individual preferences, strengths and weaknesses.
People with intellectual disabilities differ in their intellectual abilities from people without disabilities, but not in their characteristics. They too can be happy and laugh or cry and be sad. They often have a high level of emotional competence and their social skills usually go beyond what is commonly assumed. Even if they do not have language, they are able to communicate. Even if you can’t count, you count. And if you can’t speak, you have a lot to say.
