Lebanon’s Stagnation: Updates on French Envoy’s Visit and Hezbollah Dialogue

It was stated in the electronic “al-Anbaa”:

A new stage of stagnation awaits Lebanon, starting from this week until the date of the return of the French presidential envoy, Jean-Yves Le Drian, which will only be violated by the expected result of the dialogue that Hezbollah and the “Free Patriotic Movement” are engaged in, and whether the color of the smoke is white or black, to build on what is required. .

In this context, there is information that Le Drian may postpone his visit from the first week of September to the third week, in order to make way for efforts to soften the opposition’s position on dialogue on the one hand, and to allow room for the development of the Haret Hreik and Mirna Chalouhi dialogue on the other hand, in the hope that it will produce an agreement that will facilitate France’s presidential mission, as desired by the latter.

France is looking forward to the dialogue of “Hezbollah” and the head of the “movement” Gebran Bassil, and is waiting for its results and hopes that they will be positive, because any presidential agreement between the two parties may mean to a large extent Bassil’s support for the candidacy of Suleiman Franjieh, especially since the former “did not cut a card” for the head of the movement. Al-Marada” rather, he mortgaged his support to political demands that he placed in the custody of “Hezbollah”, and the latter insists on his candidate.

The result is not yet settled, and those familiar with the course of the discussions between the “party” and Basil indicate that things are moving slowly but progressing, which was indicated by the Secretary-General of “Hezbollah” Hassan Nasrallah, and the slowness may be a possible reason behind Le Drian’s postponement of his visit, because the success of Negotiations will give support to Franjieh and the Le Drian initiative.
