Asian Games 2023: Lebanon’s strength in shooting and taekwondo
The Asian Games will begin in the Chinese city of Hangzhou next Saturday and will continue until October 8. The Lebanese delegation will participate in various sports, and at the forefront will be the strength in archery and taekwondo.
Lebanon is participating in the current Asian Games with a small delegation consisting of 28 athletes who hope to win various medals, especially in shooting and taekwondo. Alan Moussa appears to be a strong candidate to win a medal in shooting, after he won gold with Ray Bassil in the mixed pit competition “Trap” in Indonesia course 5 years ago.
The Lebanese delegation won 4 medals in the previous edition of the Asian Games, as follows: a gold medal for Ray Bassil and Alain Moussa in the shooting competitions, a silver medal for Dominique Abi Nader in the freestyle wrestling competitions (weight 86 kilograms), and a bronze medal for Ray Bassil in the pit shooting competition. “Trap” in the women’s singles category, and a bronze for taekwondo player Laetitia Aoun.
Weightlifter Mahasen Fattouh (34 years old) also stands out, who hopes to achieve an important result in the Asian Games in weightlifting (weight 76 kilograms). The delegation also includes runner Aziza Sabiti, who won the gold medal in the 200 meters race in the Arab Athletics Championships, and finally Judo player Elias Nassif.
