Lebanon Political Crisis: French Proposal for Ceasefire with Israel

With the exception of the spring “storm” that hit Lebanon and brought, in some of its regions, such as the Orontes Hermel region, heavy rains, the political and diplomatic storms subsided at the beginning of the week, and it remained the “tempests” of field conflict in the south and along the border with Israel so high, although they were at a fast pace, yesterday, among returns they cool down the front in preparation for a cease-fire steady and permanent appear weak and weak. Therefore, the Lebanese official waited yesterday to receive the final official version of the French document related to the proposals to stop the conflicts and recommit Lebanon and Israel to send the provisions of Resolution 1701 the action within a new three-level mechanism, after French Foreign Minister Stephane Ségornet. he explained at the end of his visit to Beirut that he would contact the Lebanese side of the document after receiving Israel’s response to the changes made to it. It was surprising in this context that Prime Minister Najib Mikati received the French Ambassador Herve Magro in the afternoon, less than twenty-four hours after he met with Mikati and the French Foreign Minister Saraya said that Mikati spoke to Magro on the results of Minister Ségournet’s visit to Lebanon last Sunday and the new French ideas regarding the situation in southern Lebanon. While it was obvious that Magro had indeed given the new French paper to Mikati, An-Nahar also learned that the French embassy had given the contents of the French paper to the Speaker of the Parliament Nabih Berri on the subject of reaching a truce in the south between Israel and Hezbollah.
