A new air strike this afternoon targeted the southern districts of Beirut, according to images broadcast by AFPTV, after a first series of raids during the morning on these Hezbollah strongholds.
Images show a cloud of black smoke rising above buildings. Lebanon’s national news agency ANI reported a raid by the “enemy Air Force” in the Siya district. Earlier, the representative of the Israeli army in the Arabic language, Avichai Andrai, published on X a new order to the residents of the three districts to move away from their homes.
Besides, two leaders of Islamic Jihad, the armed Palestinian organization that had participated in the October 7, 2023 attack against southern Israel that triggered the outbreak of war in the Gaza Strip, were killed in an Israeli strike the day before yesterday, Thursday, in the suburbs of Damascus, as a source from the organization told AFP.
According to this source, Abdel Aziz al-Minawi, a member of the political office of Islamic Jihad, and Rashmi Abu Isa, responsible for the organization’s external relations, died in the blow that hit Qudjaya, in its suburbs Damascus. The Israeli military, contacted by AFP, declined to comment.
Meanwhile, Lebanon’s ANI news agency reported a strike in a central district of Tyre, near an archaeological site of Roman ruins designated as a UNESCO World Heritage Site, in southern Lebanon.
“The raid in Tire targeted the ‘ruins district’ and caused the destruction of two buildings and damage to neighboring buildings,” ANI said. The district is located near the ancient Hippodrome of Tyre.
