Lebanon: Hezbollah weapons depots in Bekaa Valley targeted by Israeli airstrike – 2024-08-20 12:06:50

Israel launched airstrikes on three locations in the Bekaa Valley, in the eastern part of Lebanon, as reported by the Lebanese News Agency (NNA). Agence France-Presse (AFP) and Reuters, citing well-informed sources, say the targets were Hezbollah weapons depots.

Since the start of the war between Israel and Hamas on October 7, there have been almost daily hostilities between the Israeli army and Lebanon’s Hezbollah, which supports the Palestinian Islamist movement.

However, concern about the spread of the conflict in the wider region has intensified after the July 30 Israeli strike in Beirut that killed a Hezbollah military official and led to the assassination of Hamas chief Ismail Haniya a day later in Tehran. Iran and Hezbollah have threatened to retaliate.
