Tensions are escalating in the Middle East with Lebanon’s Hezbollah launching a rocket attack on Israel.
In particular, Hezbollah “launched dozens of Katyusha rockets” targeting “the general headquarters of the Golan division (…) at the Nafa base”, the organization said in a statement, clarifying that it was “a response to the enemy’s attack against the Bekaa region ».
Earlier, the Lebanese News Agency (ANI) reported that three people were wounded in the early hours of the morning by an Israeli strike in the eastern part of the country, a stronghold of Hezbollah.
“Enemy warplanes launched a strike at around 1:30 AM against a factory in Shifri, injuring three civilians and destroying the building,” ANI reported.
Shifri is located in the Bekaa Valley, near the city of Baalbek.
The Israeli military confirmed that its warplanes “struck a Hezbollah military compound deep in Lebanon” in what it called the “Safri” area.
Since the start of the war in the Gaza Strip between Israel and Hamas on October 7, the Israeli army and Hezbollah have exchanged fire daily.
The Lebanese movement, which says it is acting in support of Hamas, mainly targets Israeli army positions near the border. Israel is responding with raids against targets deeper and deeper into Lebanese soil and launching targeted strikes against Hezbollah operatives.
Over the past seven months, at least 390 people — including 255 Hezbollah fighters and more than 70 civilians as well as at least 11 Hamas fighters — have been killed in Lebanon, according to an AFP count.
On the Israeli side, 11 soldiers and nine civilians have been killed, according to an official count.
