Lebanon Debate: MP Al-Baarini’s Insights on Israeli Aggression, Political Challenges, and Internal Unity

“Lebanon Debate”

The final statement of the recent summit in Riyadh put the Arab and Islamic countries before a set of challenges in terms of pressure on the American administration in order to stop the Israeli aggression on Gaza and work to launch a political dynamic to achieve lasting and comprehensive peace. On the other hand, the initial answer came from Gaza through the unprecedented escalation in the aggression against hospitals, the displacement of Palestinians, and the continued killing of children, whether directly or through the siege, which apparently enjoys American cover in light of what Benjamin Netanyahu himself announced a few hours later regarding the Arab positions. This raises question marks about the chances of translating the decisions of the Riyadh Summit.

In light of this reality, Representative Walid Al-Baarini says, with complete frankness, that all the talk “does not amount to the extent of the sacrifices and pain of the people of Gaza in light of the Israeli brutality they face, and therefore diplomatic talk and statements, I do not think they are useful, but rather what is required is to take deterrent steps against Israel… and this is unfortunately what We don’t see it even today!”

At the level of the local reality, MP Al-Baarini asserts in an interview with “Lebanon Debate” that the main question today among the Lebanese is about the war and their fate, explaining that “if we want to think logically, what is required in this circumstance is courage to raise internal files to fortify the country against any danger.” This begins with the election of the President of the Republic and the restructuring of institutions, and we must take advantage of the time of distress in which we are living to meet, understand, and agree.”

Regarding the presence of fears that the Lebanese arena will slide into war in light of recent developments, Al-Baarini confirms that “fears exist, although our wish is that Lebanon does not experience a new destructive war.”

Regarding the impact of this on the internal political scene and the issues at hand, Al-Baarini does not hide his regret at the continued internal division, reiterating the call to overcome differences, rise above personal issues, and all think in a patriotic spirit and high responsibility.

At the level of the title proposed by the “National Moderation” bloc regarding the extension of the leaders of the security services, Representative Al-Baarini says: “We previously spoke about this matter and put forward a proposal for a law that includes the extension of the leaders of all military and security institutions. What applies to the army commander must also apply to the Director-General.” of the Internal Security Forces.
