“Lebanon Debate”
The Chairman of the Parliamentary Media and Communications Committee, Representative Ibrahim Al-Moussawi, met with a delegation from the Touch and Alpha employee unions. The crisis that led to the employees declaring their strike was discussed in all its aspects and ways to resolve it and end the strike. The delegation expressed its positive readiness to accept any A proposal that helps guarantee the rights of employees in the collective labor contract and the actual value of salaries to end the crisis.
In this context, the Minister of Communications in the caretaker government, Johnny Al-Qurm, explained during a call with “Lebanon Debate” that he “contacted with MP Ibrahim Al-Moussawi, and confirmed that the necessity of suspending the strike decision had been reached during the meeting with a delegation from the employees’ union of the companies “Touch” and “Touch”. “Alpha” without restrictions and conditions, as a decision to suspend the strike is expected to be issued today.
He points out that “signing the collective contract will result in tens of millions of dollars for the ministry and the Touch and Alpha companies, and I, as a minister in a caretaker government, do not have the right to oblige the minister who comes after me with these large sums,” declaring that “he will present this file.” At the Cabinet table during the next session, to obtain approval for any amendment or any draft of the collective labor contract.”
Regarding the campaign of criticism he is being subjected to? Al-Qurm asserts that “all the work he carries out is in accordance with legal and regulatory principles and aims to achieve profits for the state, and therefore the theories that are talked about today differ from the work that takes place on the ground, especially since they have an impact in improving productivity and the ministry’s revenues,” stressing that “Any campaign against which he is exposed cannot be taken into account with full compliance with the decisions of the regulatory bodies.”
