Lebanon Debate: Expert Warns of Escalating Tensions and Potential Catastrophe in the Region

“Lebanon Debate”

Writer and political analyst Wajdi Al-Aridi confirmed to Lebanon Debate. He “previously warned some time ago of what was coming to Lebanon in terms of disasters, calamities, war and assassinations in particular, and here we are today entering into what is forbidden.”

He added, “After the suburb explosion and the words of the Secretary-General of Hezbollah, Mr. Hassan Nasrallah, yesterday, and everything surrounding Lebanon, I see that the era of the seventies and eighties is returning to the country with a change of players, but do not forget that there is a specific weapon being used, and the series of assassinations will not stop there.” Not to mention landing here and there, and bombing deep inside Israel and perhaps outside Tel Aviv. Assassinations and liquidations may occur, and the interests of this country and that will be harmed. The game is open to all possibilities.

Al-Aridi revealed, “Instructions were given to all embassies and departments of Western countries, including airline companies, to exercise caution, and some of them began to prepare and mobilize in anticipation of what is coming to the country and the region in general.”

He asked, “Why did Mr. Nasrallah say, ‘I will continue on Friday and I will speak in Lebanon? Is he waiting for a new Israeli battleship? And he says to the Israeli, ‘We have tied?’

He continued, “The diplomacy that started strongly from Washington and Paris, and I believe that there are efforts to curb any escalation, but at the same time there is an achievement of goals by this party and that, and perhaps this will lead to undesirable consequences, and then the settlement will come, but this time it will not come to the soft side.” Rather, it will be absolutely catastrophic, because when you reach any agreement, conclude a treaty, or conclude some settlement, there must be blood, wars, and conflicts.”

Regarding the presidential election that took place in the past few days, Al-Aridi confirmed, “The French envoy Jean-Yves Le Drian is returning to Lebanon, the American envoy Amos Hochstein, the Qatari envoy is preparing to return, and is communicating with the Iranians, and the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia is moving through its ambassador to Lebanon, Walid Al-Bukhari, and the Diwan advisor.” Royal Nizar Al-Aloula, who, according to the data, will meet with Le Drian, and perhaps a meeting will take place for the quintet, which may be in Paris or Riyadh.”

He considered that “the presidential entitlement has returned strongly to the forefront, because Washington, Paris, Riyadh, and all members of the Five-Year Committee are aware of the dangers of what may happen in Lebanon, and there must be a president to confront these disastrous challenges, and therefore things are still as they are. The Shiite duo is clinging to former MP Suleiman.” Franjieh, and the Commander of the Army, General Joseph Aoun, at the forefront, and the same goes for the Acting Director of Public Security, Major General Elias Al-Bisari, as his fortunes rise day after day, while the Maronite Patriarch, Cardinal Bechara Boutros Al-Rai, tells those who meet him that his list has not changed and has not changed, that is, the honorary president. To the Harvard Alumni Association, Habib Al-Zoghbi, former Minister Ziad Baroud, and others.”

Accordingly, in Al-Aridi’s opinion, “There are no surprises with the names, as they have become clear and well-known, and I expect during the next two months that there will be surprises of a heavy caliber in terms of eligibility, and if the need arises, the president will be elected as quickly as possible, otherwise things will go to the spring, otherwise everything will be disrupted.” Endeavors: Former President Michel Aoun may be the last president of the republic.”

Al-Aridi concluded by saying: “Things are chaos in the country: waste, theft, brokers, corruption, and settling accounts. Some in the Free Patriotic Movement, such as the lawyer Wadih Aql and another from the Meshalab family, invent fictitious files dealing with gas and oil companies and others, and there are no facts, while there are no facts.” A state and no one to grieve, as things may get much worse because we have begun to live as separate tribes and there is no state, so beware, O Lebanese.”
