Political analyst Wajdi Al-Aridi said, “The economic and social situation in the country can no longer tolerate any luxury for a long time, especially since there are warnings of an unprecedented collapse of the educational and medical sectors, so the Lebanese had to help themselves.”
In an interview with the “Lebanon Debate”, Al-Aridi affirmed that “Saudi Arabia is ready for any assistance to the country and not to abandon it, and therefore to participate in any conference of donor countries and assist it, but that there be a consensual president without interfering with any names.”
He pointed out that “Patriarch Mar Beshara Boutros was informed, during his meeting with French President Emmanuel Macron, that France has names, even if they support the head of the Marada Movement, Suleiman Franjieh.”
And he stressed that “the other party is still clinging to the candidacy of the head of the Marada Movement, Suleiman Franjieh, and the opposition has reached the heresy of the word intersection, and I do not favor it. There must be 100% agreement on the opposition candidate, whoever this candidate is, but for populist political calculations, especially for the Free Patriotic Movement.” And the Lebanese forces and the Lebanese battalions, and for all the parties to the boycott, there was an intersection, but what happened was an advanced matter that it was agreed on Jihad Azour.
He added, “The question today is, will Hezbollah allow the presidential elections to be held on the 14th of this month? In response to a question, Al-Aridi answered: “What happened recently, from Hezbollah’s military parade or maneuver after the anniversary of liberation, to the National Party’s return to arms, in addition to recent security incidents, and to the investigations conducted by the United Nations about the killing of the Irish soldier and the accusation of Hezbollah , leading to security problems located in more than one region, and the proliferation of drug and Captagon smuggling operations, in addition to the kidnapping of the Saudi citizen, all of this indicates that the security situation is not sound, and that something is preparing for a big explosion, and the intelligence of the army and the security services and the intersection of information all indicate However, Lebanon may have a major security incident, and against its background the army commander will come as president of the republic.
