Lebanon Crisis: Presidential Election and Regional Tensions Amidst Israeli Aggression and Gaza Situation

“Lebanon Debate”

With the impact of the “Al-Aqsa Flood” and the Israeli aggression on the southern border, which yesterday, Monday, led to the martyrdom of Hezbollah members, talk about the Lebanese crisis, most notably the presidential election, has become frozen.

In this context, political analyst Ali Hamadeh pointed out that “the file for the presidential election in Lebanon has been put in the refrigerator, as a result of the current events in the Gaza Strip,” considering that “the regional situation is predominant now, and the war in Gaza in particular is predominant.”

In an interview with Lebanon Debate, Hamadeh confirmed that “at the present time there is no interest or communication between the parties concerned with the presidential election, whether at the international or regional levels or even internally, as a result of everyone’s dedication to following developments in the Gaza Strip.”

Hamadeh considered that “the presidential eligibility file in the refrigerator is frozen, and will not be released from it before the completion of military operations in Gaza, and perhaps beyond Gaza, especially since Lebanon is very likely to be drawn into this war, and the country will enter into a state of war with it as well, so everything Postponed today, pending the end of military operations.”

It is noteworthy that Lebanon is facing regional tensions and security threats in light of the delicate conditions taking place in the region, and this increases the complexities surrounding the political and presidential scene in the country, making the regional situation the most important at the present time.
