Lebanon, Blinken announces 157 million in US humanitarian aid





(ANSA) – ROME, 05 OCTOBER – US Secretary of State Antony Blinken announces that the US will provide “nearly 157 million dollars in new humanitarian aid to support the populations affected by the conflict in Lebanon and in the region”. “This funding will address new and existing needs of internally displaced persons, refugee populations within Lebanon, and the communities that host them,” Blinken adds in a statement published by the US State Department. Such assistance “will also support those fleeing to neighboring Syria”, it added. “These emergency food, shelter, blankets, hygiene kits, protection, water and sanitation assistance will be a critical lifeline for those who have endured unimaginable hardship,” says Blinken recalling that the United States “has provided nearly 386 million dollars over the last year to support vulnerable populations in Lebanon and Syria affected by the worsening conflict.” (HANDLE).
