Lebanon and France sign agreement for joint healthcare projects

The Minister of Public Health in the caretaker government, Firas Al-Abyadh, signed with his French counterpart, François Braun, a framework agreement between the Lebanese and French Ministries of Health, which provides for cooperation and coordination of various projects related to the health sector between Lebanon and France through a joint Lebanese-French working group, which works to determine the priority of projects and ensure the achievement of the desired benefit from them.

This came during a visit by the White Minister to France, which began with a meeting he held with the Minister of Health and Prevention in France at the ministry’s headquarters in Paris, in the presence of the Director General of Expertise France Antoine Peigney, advisors to the French Minister Jerome Weinbach, Bertrand Mey, Leila Ayyash, and the advisor to the White Minister Pierre Anhouri. .

Al-Abyadh pointed to “the importance of the framework agreement,” stressing that “this agreement establishes the organization and activation of cooperation between the Lebanese health sector and the French health sector in a way that guarantees the implementation of useful projects instead of the possibility of repeating cooperation and aid programs and dispersing their goals.”

It is noteworthy that the framework agreement includes various areas of joint cooperation between Lebanon and France, especially in the areas of primary health care, the ministry’s programs for mental and psychological health, organ donation, preparation for disasters, preparation of medical and nursing cadres, and strengthening health systems.

Al-Abyad also visited the Gustave Roussy Center, ranked first in Europe for cancer treatment, as it attracts 3,200 specialists in oncology treatments.

Al-Abyadh met with the Director General of the Center, Professor Fabrice Barlesi, in the presence of the International Relations Officer, Rémi Thiolet.

The research focused on the National Cancer Plan, which the Ministry intends to launch next month, and how to enhance cooperation between the Ministry of Public Health and the Center in terms of treatments, research, training of cadres, and development of advanced treatment protocols.

Al-Abyad also went to Morocco to represent Lebanon at the conference organized by the World Health Organization in Rabat, from today until the fifteenth of this month, on the health of refugees and immigrants.
