The Public Drivers Association in all of Lebanon is carrying out a stand in Riad El-Solh Square in Beirut, in protest against what they described as “continuing chaos in this sector and deteriorating living conditions.” They demanded the concerned officials to prosecute the transgressors of the profession in the transportation sector, the owners of forged plates, and the owners of bicycles who work to transport passengers, which affects the livelihood of the drivers’ families, as well as stopping Syrian drivers from working in this sector, and pursuing workers through the “platforms.”

They explained that “it is not the first time that they have moved, but to no avail,” and threatened to escalate their movement and close the roads, in case the demands were not met.

The protesters blocked the road in Riad al-Solh, and threatened to expand their movement by blocking more than one road in the capital.

The National News Agency stated that they blocked the road in both directions in front of the Charles Helou station, opposite the Electricité du Liban, and in front of the expatriate statue.

Another group of drivers also blocked the road leading to Hamra at the intersection of the Banque du Liban.

In Jounieh, a group of drivers blocked the road in both directions.
