She hates “paralysis” and holds her responsible for the decline in the level

Lebanese director Mirna Khayyat focuses her artistic activity on directing artistic works such as advertisements and documentaries, in addition to conducting acting workshops for those wishing to learn acting performance. She points out that she exists and does not know the reasons why production companies exclude her from directing her works, or without her participating as an actress in their works, suggesting that it is likely This may be the result of the “paralysis” present in artistic circles in Lebanon.
- Why are you away from directing series, especially on platforms?
– I don’t know, I exist, and this question should be directed to the production companies. My husband and I were the first to present a movie in 2000, and at that time productions were limited and films were very few. We also presented Al-Fawazeer and I participated in it as an actress in 1999 and 2000. Perhaps because I combine acting and directing at the same time, production companies are afraid to deal with me as an actress, thinking that That I could intrude on directing, or take from the path of directors. All I can say is that I am available and ready for any acting work. I also want to draw attention to a specific issue, which is that some people’s claim that they apologize for not receiving offers is incorrect. I am very frank and cannot say that jobs are being showered on me, but I reject them. I am ready to act inside and outside Lebanon.
- What do you think about the level of platform business?
– I don’t follow everything, but the level has improved significantly, and there is clear generosity towards good productions, and I hope to continue like this.
- Does “paralytic” mean that production companies deal with the same names from one work to another?
This is true. Nepotism controls production companies, and each company has its own people and specific people it deals with. Therefore, we notice that some actors only act in their works. I will not say that this matter is wrong. Rather, it exists even in Hollywood, and it turns into wars sometimes. .

- Could this reflect negatively on the drama industry in the long run?
– Rather, it has a negative impact in the short term, because some actors take opportunities from the path of good actors who stay at home without work, even though their presence is necessary on the scene, but those who do not deserve take their place.
- You don’t seem to be the type who doesn’t go along?
– This is very difficult for me. I always communicate with some people in the community with whom I have a friendship, but I cannot communicate for a specific interest, and since I entered the field, interests have had no place in my work and my relationships with people or artists. Whoever does this cannot be said to have made a mistake in his behavior, because some producers may forget some actors and actresses, not because they do not know them or like them. Rather, this matter falls to them, but interest is the specialty of some, and I do not like this type of people.
- Are you content at the current stage with directing documentaries, advertisements, and acting lessons?
– I have appeared in all fields related to directing, and I am not far behind at all.. The market has changed from before and it cannot be said that there is an abundance of work as was the case in past years.
