“Homosexuality” has become a disturbing obsession in Lebanon, and it is being confronted through campaigns and movements that warn of its danger. Yesterday, a number of Sidon residents staged a protest in the city center, with the participation of clerics and activists from the younger generation, women, and all ages.
A member of the Association of Muslim Scholars in Lebanon, Sheikh Ahmed Amoura, confirms that “we never imagined that we would reach a day when we would be forced to take such a move, but the issue took serious dimensions through the submission of a draft law calling for the abolition of Article 534 of the Lebanese Penal Code and broadcasting funded campaigns to promote homosexuality. Therefore, every individual who bears a social responsibility must take action to protect his society.
Sheikh Amoura warns of “the upcoming danger of this issue, which threatens the lives of children and affects instinct, not just religion, especially as they try to reach in a crazy way into the minds of children to consolidate these harmful things.”
And he says: “We have a project called “My Instinct” that emphasizes the instinct of God Almighty that people innate, and there was a continuation of previous activities that we carried out in the Saida municipality and other institutions, in addition to courses with the “Hasm” campaign sponsored by the Association of Muslim Scholars to protect the family and society from Westernization legislation, and there was participation from different ages and trends who rejected this dangerous matter because it is a systematic and funded work that tries to recruit certain people.
He praises “the Lebanese official position at the level of the prime minister, the Ministry of Education, and spiritual and official leaders, and specifically the remarkable position of the Minister of Education, Abbas al-Halabi, at the conference launching the new educational curricula.”
And about the possibility of preparing for anticipated movements in the city of Sidon to confront homosexuality? Sheikh Amoura confirms that “there is a series of movements in the city of Sidon within this framework, with the support of the activists of the “Hasm” campaign to protect the family and society, with training courses for activists and media campaigns against everything that promotes the issue of homosexuality. Those who reject this matter, and we will confront all those who promote the predation of children and everything that leads to the destruction of the human race because it is considered a crime against humanity.
