Lebanese Artist Carole Samaha Opens Up About Childhood Harassment: Overcoming Trauma and Speaking Up

Lebanese artist Carole Samaha spoke about a difficult experience she had in her childhood, which was that she was exposed to harassment more than once when she was young, which greatly affected her psyche. She said during her interview with journalist Raghida Shalhoub on the “Zaman” program broadcast on LBCI: “The first time I was harassed I was 7 years old, and then at the age of 10 and 11 years old, and at that time the issue became more severe.”

Regarding her handling of the issue, she said: “I addressed the issue directly with the person with threats, and I decided not to tell my family so that the family relationship would not be harmed, because he was part of the family, but from outside the home, and I threatened him that he would not enter our home again, and his life might end.”

She continued: “When I turned 18, I told my older brother, and he was shocked by the person and my silence for that long.”
