Lebanese army responds for the first time to Israeli attacks

Madrid. The Lebanese army reported this Thursday that it responded to an attack carried out by the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) in the town of Beint Jbeil, thus being the first time that regular Lebanese troops respond to an Israeli offensive within the framework of the attacks against the Shiite militia party Hezbollah.

The Lebanese Armed Forces indicated that one of its soldiers died in an attack “by the Israeli enemy” against a military facility in Bint Jbeil. “Members of the (military) center responded to the sources of gunfire,” the Lebanese military authorities noted on their official social media profile.

Hours earlier, the Lebanese army had already reported that another of its soldiers had died and one more had been injured as a result of an Israeli attack “while carrying out an evacuation and rescue mission” with the participation of the Lebanese Red Cross in the Marjayun town.

The Israeli army has intensified its offensive against Lebanese territory in recent weeks, although it has stressed at all times that its war is not with the country, but with the Hezbollah militia. The Israeli attacks have already left nearly 2,000 dead, including dozens of members of the Islamist group but also civilians, including almost 130 children.
