A road accident in the municipality of Esmeralda, in the province of Camagüey, left six people injured, including two children, on the afternoon of this Friday, April 19.
Local officials reported the incident, in which a truck overturned while traveling on the Central Highway of the Northern Circuit, near the Community of Lombillo.
The unit was transporting construction materials and was traveling towards Nuevitas when the driver lost control and overturned, ending up with the vehicle on its side on the side of the road.
The note, however, does not specify whether the injured were traveling in the unit or were nearby, although it is understood that it would be the first option, since it does not mention another vehicle involved.
The media identified the injured by name and age, and although it specified the injuries of two of them, no details were mentioned about the state of health of the others, including the two minors. The list of injured is as follows:
- Alejandro Vidal Rojas, 54 years old, Nuevitas municipality – presents a head trauma.
- Iván Martinez Socarrás, 33 years old, Lugareños community – has neurological impairment and loss of mobility in the lower limbs.
- Claudia Rivero Ortiz, 25 years old from the Jiquí town, Esmeralda municipality.
- Loinier Ceniz Lopez, 41, Jiquí locality, Esmeralda municipality.
- Loinel Ceniz Rivero, 6 years old, from the Jiquí town, Esmeralda municipality.
- Lorena Ceniz Rivero, 4 years old, from the Jiquí town, Esmeralda municipality.
According to the source, the injured were transferred to the Amado Fernández municipal hospital, from where they were referred to the provincial hospital.
After the accident, municipal authorities also went to the hospital to inquire about the evolution of the injured. At the moment, details of his condition are still unknown.
Car accidents are increasingly frequent in Cuba, especially those involving large units, such as trucks and buses.
Just this week there were three truck overturns in the provinces of Las Tunas, Granma and Santiago de Cuba. In one of these incidents, The driver spent several hours trapped in the cabin due to the damage to the truck.
