Leatherwork taught at the museum

On May 25 and 26, the Musée de l’Aurignacien offers training on prehistoric gestures with the participation of Theresa Emmerich. For 25 years, this doctor in archeology has specialized in the various ancient techniques of weaving and leatherwork. As such, she has produced numerous reproductions for museums. In his course, we will be able to learn in particular to create his own sewing threads using different raw materials: tendon, intestine, leather, fur, hair or plants. During these two days, we will also be able to reproduce stitches using the different types of threads and learn for which types of seams they are most often used. As a practical exercise, the participants will make a small leather bag and each will take home their work. Participation 100 € per day of training.
