“Auntie, what is a rainbow made of? Why are there shooting stars? Why is the crab walking sideways?” asked Gita, my niece who is still in grade 1 elementary school.
I only answered in moderation or as far as I know.
Sometimes I gave up and searched the internet for answers until he was satisfied with my answer.
Not infrequently also the answers I gave actually raised new questions from the mouth of this little girl.
If you are confused and lazy, I just answer with, “Secret, please,” or, “Curious, ya? ”
I only played the role of an aunt who often took care of my nephew during online school while her father and mother went to work.
I’ve only been with him for a few hours and there are dozens of ‘weird’ questions that make me dizzy.
Imagine his parents spending more time with him!
Finally, I looked for a way for Gita to find the answers to all her questions without having to go to the internet or interrupt my work.
Book Recommendations
I bought one of the books from the Fun Q&A Series entitled Fun Q&A about Our Planet.
This book published by Bhuana Popular Science (BIP) colorful and quite thin.
It contains facts and all the cool things on Earth presented in simple sentences accompanied by cute illustrations.
I gave the book to Gita who was greeted with joy.
Now every time she finishes doing schoolwork, the girl who likes to braid her hair becomes calm while reading my gift book.
Indeed several times he asked some words or terms that he did not understand.

However, at least I can answer that question without having to bother.
Sometimes, I read this book with him.
We also practice one of the explanations in this book which likens the Earth to a toy puzzle.
We make ‘slices puzzle’ with folded paper.
Those are the pieces of rock called the Earth’s plate.
Then, puzzle were put together and formed the Earth.
That way, Gita doesn’t get bored easily while reading this book.
This book is a series of books with various interesting themes.
So, after finishing reading a book with a certain theme, we can buy children the same series of books but with a different theme.
Books in this series that have been published include: Fun Q&A about Animals, Our Planet, Science, and Solar system.
What’s more, there are other titles from this series that will soon be published with the theme of astronauts, weather, and plants.
Now, Gita’s rants in the form of questions have turned into, “Auntie do you know, if it turns out that there are 200 billion suns other than Earth’s, you know!”
Also other babbles like when a bee came into our room, “Auntie, that bee can’t see red, you know!”
Some of his new babble sometimes actually gave me new knowledge.
