– Learn to trust the car

Registers “everything”

BMW’s cars are equipped with Digital Stability Control (DSC). There is a complicated mathematical analysis that helps the car drive more intelligently than you would have managed yourself: It records readings from the gear speed sensor, acceleration sensor, wheel speed, brake pressure and what you do with the steering wheel.

DSC is automatically switched on, but can be switched off if desired. In the vast majority of cases, it is not.

– What should I as a driver think about in order to get the best possible interaction with the car?

– The most important thing is to trust the car. Don’t think you know much better yourself. Some might be tempted to turn off the safety systems on the highway, but they’re there for a reason, so I don’t recommend it. The systems work for us and our security – not against us, says Olav.
