It will take place on Thursday, August 29, 2024 at 7:00 p.m., it will be in person and completely free.
The headquarters will be at the offices of the Latin American Coalition, located at 4938 Central Avenue, in Charlotte.
Resilience and strength
Immigrants can face many complications, from being away from their loved ones to facing social isolation, among many other difficulties.
According to the organizers of this free workshop on resilience, participants will learn to “strengthen their ability to overcome challenges and move forward stronger.”
According to the American Psychological Association (APA), “resilience is the process of adapting well to adversity, trauma, tragedy, threat, or significant sources of stress.”
These may include “family or relationship problems, serious health issues, or stressful work or financial situations.”
Latin community
And particularly in the Latino community, the difficulties can be further complicated, as many are isolated by language barriers and cultural differences.
Thus, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) says that Latino immigrants “have fewer social ties and lower levels of social integration.”
For all these reasons, learning to be resilient, overcome adversity and have emotional tools to face tragic moments in life is very necessary in the Latino community.
