LEARN Quebec should lead the Anglophone education sector on new provincial tutoring programs

Montreal, 1is february 2020 – The Association of Anglophone School Boards of Quebec (ACSAQ) asks the Ministry of Education to grant equal funding to LEARN Quebec so that the organization takes charge of the new provincial tutoring programs announced in January for school boards English speakers.

As of today, the new tutoring programs will be available only on the Quebec platform AlloProf, which does not offer adequate programs in English.

“LEARN Quebec is recognized and managed by the English-speaking education community. Its board of directors is made up of the directors general of the nine English-language school boards. The infrastructure and the link with our school boards and our students have proven to be very beneficial in the past and more specifically since the start of the COVID-19 pandemic. The quality of English teaching and the student / teacher interaction, which are of inestimable value, have been demonstrated, ”said Dan Lamoureux, President of QESBA.

“We hope that the Minister of Education will support our community’s collective position vis-à-vis this important issue and that he will grant equal and adequate funding to LEARN Quebec for the benefit of our students,” concluded the president.

The ACSAQ is the voice of English public education in Quebec and represents 100,000 students in 340 elementary / secondary schools and vocational training centers for adults across Quebec.
