The round of 16 competitions of the President’s Cup ended, resulting in a number of exciting matches expected in the quarter-finals of the “Most Expensive Cups”.
Al Jazira (Abu Dhabi Pride) achieved the widest victory in the round of 16, as it swept Gulf FC, one of the first division teams, 6-1.
Marcel Kaiser’s sons set a quarter-final date with Sharjah (The King), the defending champion.
The King, in turn, narrowly defeated Al-Nasr (Al-Ameed) 2-1 in a renewed meeting between them, after they tied in the 13th round of the ADNOC Professional League.
Likewise, the round of 16 of the “Most Expensive Cups” witnessed a repeated confrontation between Al-Bataeh (Al-Raqi) and Ittihad Kalba (The Tigers), who recently clashed in the 14th round of the league.
Al-Raqi was able to do a wonderful “remontada” to impose a 3-3 draw with the Tigers, then beat them 6-5 on penalty kicks.
The team belonging to the Emirate of Sharjah hit a quarter-final date with Ajman (Orange), which emerged victorious against Al-Hamriya (Al-Anabi) with a clean double.
Also, with a score of 2-0, Shabab Al-Ahly (the Red Knights) had won the Emirates (the Falcons), to collide with Al-Ain (the leader), who had surpassed Khorfakkan (the Eagles) with an orphan goal, in one of the most prominent quarter-final summits.
The match between Al Wasl (the Emperor) and Bani Yas (the Swords of the Capital) will not be less heated, after the Emperor had won 2-1 over Fujairah (the Wolves), while the Swords of the Capital defeated Al Dhafra (West Knights) 3-1.
