The tenth edition needed to be celebrated in the best possible way. And the cultural association News Loyalists has therefore prepared a record review which will take place in two phases: from 24 May to 1 June with the traveling meetings of “Waiting for the Festival…” and from 11 to 16 June with the events of the actual Festival hosted in the three traditional location in the city center of Ronchi dei Legionari, in the province of Gorizia: the palatenda in Piazzale Martiri delle Foibe, Piazza Francesco Giuseppe I and the garden in Piazzetta dell’Emigrante.
They will be intense fifteen days in which there will be 280 national and international guests, 85 meetings, 50 panels, 20 editorial presentations, 5 shows, 5 masterclasses, 3 exhibitions, 3 documentaries and 2 journalistic awards. “Waiting for the Festival” will be hosted in the municipalities of San Canzian d’Isonzo, San Pier d’Isonzo, Staranzano, Gradisca d’Isonzo, Aquileia, Sagrado, Fogliano Redipuglia and Gorizia.
Also this year the Journalism Festival will open and close with the awarding of two journalistic prizes. On 11 June the cultural event will be inaugurated with the delivery ceremony of the third edition of Leali Young award in memory of Cristina Visintini, the journalist, as well as vice-president of Leali delle Notizie, who passed away prematurely in August 2021. An award dedicated to young people between 18 and 35 years old, with the aim of encouraging and promoting the inclusion of young people in the journalistic profession and in the world of information. As in 2023, this year too there will be three winners, one for each of the following categories: “print article”, “reportage (photo or video investigation)” and “podcast or web products”.
As tradition now dictates, on the last day of the Festival, Sunday 16 June, the award ceremony for the seventh edition of the award will take place Loyal news in memory of Daphne Caruana Galiziawith which the association wants to remember the Maltese journalist killed in an attack on 16 October 2017. Award which this year will go to Siegfried Ranucci, author and presenter of the program Report, broadcast on Rai 3. Ranucci will also be in Ronchi dei Legionari to present his latest book La Scelta. The scientific committee recognized his great ability in carrying out investigative journalism, which entails considerable risks and many difficulties of various kinds. The prize once again enjoys the high patronage of the European Parliament.
“I won’t deny that I am very excited to present this tenth edition of the Journalism Festival – said the president of Leali delle Notizie Luca Perrino – We started in 2015 with three days, five meetings, around twenty guests and not much public on those days of 26, 27 and 28 June with enthusiasm and passion. Elements that still distinguish us today, even if the complexity of organizing such an event is increasingly felt. Like every year, we put our heads and hearts into preparing the program, in the hope of offering the public stimulating and quality events. It fills us with pride to see how a small town in north-eastern Italy can become a national cultural reference point.”
