Microsoft recently revealed details about the Microsoft Xbox Series X single-chip system. Rumors of a simplified next-gen Xbox Series S console are also becoming increasingly active. And now Tom Warren from The Verge commented on Twitter a table with comparative characteristics of the two systems compiled by TweakTown journalists.
These specs designate the Xbox Series X GPU as a Navi 2X accelerator with 52 RDNA 2.0 compute units and a clock speed of 1.825 GHz. That being said, the Xbox Series S graphics are described simply as Navi RDNA 2.0 GPUs. Mr. Warren, referring to his informants, said that the simpler console will receive a GPU with only 20 computing units and a frequency of 1,550 GHz. As a result, the graphics performance will be 3.97 teraflops versus 12 for the older Series X.

Interestingly, the processor seems to remain the same and will operate at the same frequency, but the amount of GDDR6 RAM will be reduced from 16 to 10 GB. The younger version will not have an optical drive either, the power consumption will become noticeably lower, and the cooling system will be simpler. All this is done to give players a new generation system at a more affordable price. This console will target 1440p instead of full 4K. It is curious that, most likely, it will not support some games of the next generation. And if it does, then with significant restrictions.
