While the Xbox Series X is still Microsoft’s most important next-generation console, it is a fact that the company will also launch a lower priced variant. Her name is Xbox Series S, and if the recent reports come true, it will be presented in a matter of weeks. Although we still do not have official details, today some specifications were leaked again that would confirm its potential. Eye, there is a significant surprise on CPU.

The data was shared by Tom Warren, a journalist from The Verge. In recent months he has leaked a lot of reliable information about what’s new for Xbox. Among the characteristics of the Xbox Series S stands out, mainly, the performance of the processor, since it is practically the same as that found in the Xbox Series X. That is, a Custom AMD 8-core, 16-thread, Zen 2 architecture CPU with 3.8Ghz fixed frequency.

However, it is in the graphical potential where we see the most important drop compared to the older sister. The Xbox Series S, although it would keep an AMD Navi GPU with RDNA 2 architecture, it would only achieve a performance of 4 Teraflops thanks to the 20 compute units at 1,550 Ghz. The Xbox Series X, for its part, promises 52 compute units at 1.825 GHz and 12.15 Teraflops. It is worth mentioning that the cheap console aims deliver games in 1440p resolution at 60fps, so it will be an ideal proposal for people who do not seek the highest possible resolution.

Evidently, the Xbox Series S will do without the disc reader and will bet entirely on the digital format. Unfortunately we still do not know its storage capacity, but you can expect a SSD PCIe 4.0. They will surely also integrate an expansion slot to expand the space, as in the X Series. Let us remember that Microsoft joined forces with Seagate to offer external 1 TB storage units. However, its price has not been revealed at the moment.

It seems that the proximity to the official announcement is generating more and more constant leaks. Just the week before, The Verge published some images of the Xbox Series S controller. Its box confirmed the name and its compatibility with Xbox Series X, Xbox One, Windows 10, iOS and Android. Even more interesting, the packaging they warned that could not be sold until November 6, 2020. Is this the release date of the two consoles? We will know very soon.
