The premiere of Nothing Phone 2 will take place soon, because this summer. Now, however, we ask ourselves, what will be the specification and performance of the new smartphone from Carl Pei? Well, we partly don’t have to, thanks to this leak!
Some time ago, Carl Pei confirmed with representatives of Qualcomm that Nothing Phone 2 will be equipped with a Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 family system. Until now, however, we did not know what performance this connection could offer us.
Nothing Phone 2 specs and performance
Thanks to the latest leak, we already know that Nothing Phone 2 will not feature the same SD8+G1 as the rest of the smartphones. We are talking about a version that will be slightly lower clocked. The main core is to work with the clock 3 GHz instead of 3.2 GHz. Three more 2,5 GHz instead of 2.75 GHz. It was also on board 12 GB working memory LPDDR5. So what does the performance look like?
The result is slightly disturbing, considering that we do not reach 1300 points in the single-core test or 4000 for the entire SoC. Another concern is the name “taro“But we’ll come back to that in a moment. The whole thing worked during the test under system control Android 13 and Nothing OS 1.5.
Let’s compare this result to other smartphones with Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1. As we can see, the recently presented POCO F5 Pro, however, records better results. So there is a problem that may arise here.
Nothing Phone 2 – Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 zamiast „Plusa”?
The specification in the context of core clocking, as well as the question of the platform name, i.e. Taro, suggests that Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 can be “played here”. It would be quite strange considering the earlier confirmations of the presence of the plus version. On the other hand, the example of POCO F5 Pro gives an image that it might as well be it the lower clocked version of the S8+G1.
The fact that the lower score may suggest is still worrying poorer heat dissipation from the SoC system.
So let’s hope it doesn’t turn out to be a Samsung-made Snap…
If Nothing went in this direction, it would rather be a shot in the knee. Those interested in these smartphones know that the SD8G1 was not, to put it mildly, a successful product. But what else do we know about him? There will probably be a battery with a capacity 5000 mAhthere will be small changes to the appearance and the screen will probably be brighter.
Is that enough? We will have to answer this question after the premiere, which will take place this summer. In the meantime, check out what the fight looks like at the end of the year. Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 vs MediaTek Dimensity 9300.
